New Mobile Search Service from Sprint and Microsoft

Good news for Sprint users. Microsoft Corp. and Sprint is providing you with the first fully integrated GPS location-aware mobile search service with entire Internet search on Sprint phones.

With this enhanced mobile search service you are now capable of the following:

1. Explore the Web, local listings and maps, and Sprint’s mobile content catalogue using the same familiar search box powered by Live Search.

2. Quickly and easily find local businesses and listings nearby without manually entering location information by using Sprint’s built-in GPS capabilities.

Sprint is also the first mobile operator in the US to offer GPS-enabled voice search capabilities powered by Live Search for mobile.

“We are focused on working with industry leaders like Sprint to bring new and innovative services to market for customers, and creating new business and revenue opportunities for our partners,” said the vice president of Mobile Services organization at Microsoft, Brian Arbogast.

Another good news for Sprint data subscribers that are using data-enabled Sprint phones, the enhanced Sprint mobile search experience powered by Live Search is immediately available at no additional cost.

Verizon Wireless Expands EVDO Coverage

Verizon Wireless are now multiplying their efforts in widening their customer reach. They’ve been expanding evdo coverage in Iowa, Colorado, Indiana and in upstairs New York.

They have doubled the size of their high-speed wireless broadband network by expanding the service into eastern Dutchess County, western Orange and Ulster counties, and into Sullivan County.

Des Moines and areas of Polk, Dallas and Warren counties in Iowa can now enjoy high-speed wireless broadband network (Evolution-Data Optimized [EV-DO] Revision A [Rev. A]) from Verizon Wireless. The company has expanded their network to west of Des Moines to Adel and De Soto; east to Altoona; north to Ankeny and Perry; and south to Indianola, so now they can wirelessly access their calendars, the Internet, e-mail and other business data.

On the other hand, wireless customers in the western part of the Centennial state can now also take advantage of the high-speed business and entertainment services. Verizon has also expanded their Evolution- Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision (Rev.) A network to these parts of the country so customers can have an average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits.

Local residents in Windham County, Grant County, including Marion and Gas City and recently Philadelphia can now access Verizon’s high-speed wireless network through Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A network. Customers can enjoy services like broadband access, enhanced high-speed wireless service, with average user speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits and V CAST that enables customers to download full song tracks, play cutting-edge 3D games and stream video clips straight to the handset with top transmission speeds.

New Connection Manager from Sprint

Is this true? Sprint will soon release their new Sprint Connection Manager (SCM) that supports ALL current shipping EVDO Cards. The current shipping Spring Cards include:

* Pantech PX-500 PCMCIA
* Novatel EX720 ExpressCard
* Novatel S720 PCMCIA
* Sierra AirCard 595 PCMCIA
* Sierra AirCard 595U ExpressCard
* Sierra AirCard 597E ExpressCard

But it is said that the new release will support all current shipping mobile broadband cards. Here are some of its features:

-One Connection Manager Supports All EVDO Cards and Devices
-As new devices come out a simple driver install will allow support
-Ability to connect to WiFi from Connection Manager
-Completely configurable (hide/show specific features)
-Rules based
-Customizable for enterprises
-shows additional info on connection window (signal strength, data usage, networ, etc.)
